Located in the lush Irish countryside, the Celtic Micro-Cottage aims to provide a safe and secure retreat for those in seek of rest and rejuvenation from the restless natural environment.

Inspired by the weathered, weighty megaliths of ancient Celtic monuments, the retreat’s monolithic form offers up a contemporary reinterpretation of the prehistoric Dolmen. With its rugged, rigid volume split by strict, slender cuts; the cottage adopts a defensive role against the elements whilst subtle glimpses of the warm interior invite visitors inward.

Upon entering this solid sanctuary, a foyer-corridor connects two halves of the prescribed 25sqm. programme which is split between cleaning and storage to the east; and lounging, cooking and sleeping to the west.
