Dune Chess Set

Inspired by the sinuous slopes and restless ripples of our planet’s deserts - the ‘Dune Chess Set’ attempts to capture sand in its purest, elemental form. With their carefully sculpted surfaces, rival chess pieces offer a unique tactile experience for opponents, as their texture varies between rippled and smooth. The board’s sloped silhouette creates an undulating landscape upon which pieces face-off from opposing hills; before descending down into the battlefield below.

The sculptural chess set is a collaboration with German manufacturer, ‘Sandhelden’ and harnesses their sand 3D-Printing technology to create a solid as hard as stone.
