Emerald Trade Pod

With their translucent glass screens, held within a sculpted steel frame, the trade suite pods are designed to appear like precious jewels held up high above the heads of visitors to the jewel galleries.

Designed as an assembly of prefabricated components, the trade pods would be precisely manufactured under factory conditions before being inserted into the building as super components. Beneath the glass vessel, a nested seating area provides a moment of rest for gallery visitors who have completed their meandering tour of the building and its exhibits. Enclosing this space from 3 sides are the pre-cast concrete columns which reach up to hold the vessel via carefully sculpted stainless steel armatures.
